Businesses That are Booming Due to Coronavirus

Alux.com listed about 15 businesses that are booming because of the Covid-19 pandemic. We list below the ten key ones as we see it:

1. Masks and Medical Supplies

The global demand for masks, disposable gloves, ventilators, sanitisers and gowns has shot up dramatically. The World Health Organisation (“WHO”) estimates that frontline staff require every month 1.59 million goggles, 89 million masks, 30 million gowns, 76 million gloves and 2.9 million litres of sanitisers.

Panic buying by the public also exacerbates the world- wide shortage.

2. Cleaning Services

There is now an uptick of their services for clean buildings and public areas.

3. Drones

Drones are used in novel ways to clean streets or enforce the lockdown (eg. China and South Korea).

4. Grocery Store

People now visit the local grocery store for toilet paper and essentials to survive the lockdown.

5. Shopping Delivery Services

This sector has grown sharply. Amazon requires over 100,000 team members.

9. Remote Doctor’s Services

10. Telecommunications

People need to stay in contact with others – facetime, video calls, skype are growing in demand. The negative effect is higher data usage and higher bills. Streaming video and live video hosting sites are on the rise.

Our selected list may not be comprehensive and there could be others who are reconfiguring their operations and may pose a fresh threat to the more traditional players.
